Once we lived next door to an Iceberg that had a white Polar Bear living on its top

Robert O. B. Miller and Evangeline Wiggins were married in Bernalillo, New Mexico where they were renting a small apartment from Senator Joe Montoya and where I was born. The three of us lived there until dad was drafted into the Army during the Korean War while he was gone we moved in with my dads mom,  grandma Minnie.

Henry is the oldest so for a while there was only three of us. Henry on the left Benny and Vangie Miller.

Notice dads bowtie, he was selling shoes door to door.

Mom and Dad,  Benny and Vangie Miller on leave from the Army just before he shipped out, photo taken at my grandma Petra's house in Farmington, New Mexico.

Henry and Chris are about 1 year apart the three of us were living in Albuquerque's South Valley with my dads mother, Grandma Minnie and her two brothers William and Jacob "Boots" Minchey.

After my Dads discharge from the military we moved back to Bernalillo, my grandma Pete built this house. You can see the Iceberg Café in the distance.

After moving back to Bernalillo the Miller family started to grow, starting from the left is Henry then Reyes "Mitzu", Benita,  Jeannie, Chris, Annie Mole and sitting on the hood of the car is Joey and my moms younger sister Aunt Gloria.

Oldest to the youngest is Henry, Chris, Benita, The Twins Jeanie and Annie, Reyes "Mitzu" and the youngest is Joey with an "E".

Note
Dads favorite wrestler was a Japanese Man by the name of Mitzu Awakawa, something in Reyes reminded him of Mitzu so he started calling little Reyes "Mitzu" and she is referred to as Mitzu to this very day.

We lived in a small house behind the Iceberg café just beyond the railroad tracks here in Bernalillo, New Mexico, this photo of the Iceberg café and Rio Pecos Gas Station was taken not long before they moved it back to Albuquerque, a white Polar Bear lived on top of the Iceberg.

Henrys ninth Birthday Party, some of the kids from the neighborhood.
Bottom Row left side is: little Unale girl, Jeannie Miller, next row up Agnes Unale I think, Chris Miller, Oliver Estrada and Eliash Unale. next row up is skip Aragon, Arthur Romero, Henry Miller and I don't remember the girls name in the red sweater, Pete Unale, Leroy Velarde, Alex "Kiko" Perez and Gerald Lucero.
Henrys birthday gift was a brand new bicycle and a near death experience for Chrissy, all I will say is that it involved hyway 422 which is now I-25, a cattleguard, dog,  a railroad tie fence post, two cars and a big truck oh, and one of my moms shoes. I am so sorry that I almost killed you that day and I promise that I will never do that again.

Eventually we moved away from the house next to the Iceberg café and into the old Springer House here in Bernalillo, we now have indoor plumbing with a tub and shower and three bedrooms with an apple orchard and grape vines, Oh Heaven.......This is the house we grew up in.

SLIDE SHOW IS VAN MILLERS PHOTO COLLECTION

We were all happy living out our lives, we were happy and we wanted to be together forever. I hope one day we will all be together again because I wasn't ready for it to end the way it did.
